And I? I will make you fishers of men.

Aren’t you glad that this wasn’t how Jesus called his first disciples; his first ambassadors, his first apostles, his first ministers, his first pastors? If it was, there would have been no John, no Peter, no Matthew, no Paul, no us.

Jesus called these people not according to their earthly accomplishments or their religous accomplishments, but because he could use them- dispite all of their downfalls, weaknesses, struggles, and pasts. He could use them for his glory and by his power. He could, and he did. And he can do the same with you.

Sadly, this is how many communities of faith call their leaders to follow Jesus- not for his glory and by his power, but for success by earthly accomplishments.

Grace and peace to those who are in need of a Godly leader.

Grace and peace to those who want to serve the Kingdom.

Grace and peace to those who are lost.

2 Responsesto “…Need Not Apply”

  1. Bo Lane says:

You also forgot to mention that in order to follow Christ, you must have completely and immediately shed all things mortal, never struggle with ANY sin – in ANY circumstance (or at least let anyone know about it) and/or talk in a really loud, domineering voice like America’s Pastor, John Hagee.

  2. Bobby says:

Truly! Nice comment, Bo! How about – Follow me, and you will never suffer, but have as much wealth as you can name and claim! Consumer Christianity – somebody was brilliant when they began to package and market Christ! I wish I was that brilliant! (not)

Follow me, if you are meek and lowly of heart…
Follow me, and I will teach you to die to yourself…
Follow me: lose your life and you will find it…
