The Lakeland Revival, Part 3: I’m Finished.
So I have been very skeptical about the Lakeland Revival, The Florida Outpouring, the Todd Bentley fanaticism- whatever you want to call it. From the moment I heard of it and subsequently looked into it, I called it as I saw it: a heretical-blasephemous-selfish movement possibly influenced by demonic activity.
I preached on it and warned many believers that I came into contact with about the dangers of falling into such movements.
I was shocked to see how many conservative and often closed-minded Christians flocked to be in the precense of a young overweight, balding, totally tattoo covered angel worshipping evangelist who rarely spoke the Name of Jesus.
There is so much I could continue to say, but I am tired of talking about it, reading about it, thinking about it, and especially watching horrifying YouTube videos of supposed healings that took place after Mr. Bentley knee’d a colon cancer patient in the guts.
In the end, as Jesus warned us, by their fruit we shall know them. And if worshipping angels, having regular visits with a pre-crucified Christ, the abillity to enter into heaven daily, unsubstantiated resurrections, BAM! induced falling-outs, the whole “don’t preach Jesus, preach the female angel’ thing, etc…wasn’t enough bad fruit for you- we have now learned that Pentecostal Poster-boy has been in marriage counseling for three years, was recently legally seperated from his wife, was caught having an “inappropriate emotional relationship with a female member of his staff”, was removed from leadership of his one ministry, and is not allowed to speak publicly by his ministry any longer, etc……
I hope the best for Mr. Bentley and that God can move in his life during this difficult time and draw Him into a Jesus Centered life and minstry. But, these revelations should put an end to the questions of whether this was a true move of God or not. Not that a true man of God cannot stumble, but this is just the bad fruit icing on the bad fruit cake. The case should be closed, but sadly there are many who are rushing to Todd Bentley and Fresh Fire Ministries defense.
I am done talking about this- for now, unless there is something else that must be said.
