Fish
Lately I’ve heard a lot about Christians being ‘fishers of men’. When Jesus called His first disciples to fllow Him he said, “Come with me and I will make you fishers of men.” the Bible says that they left everything and followed Him.
So often we as Chrisitans become so fixated on the fish already in the ‘tank’ that we forget about the ones still in the ocean needing to be caught.
We are so fixated by the people already following Jesus tuT we totally forget to go and make new Followers- it’s pathetic and I’m guilty.
When Christians are not fishers, we’re simply a lame club. But when Christians are fishers, we are a living breathing body who excitingly can change the world.
A woman I heard recently said, ” Followers Fish!” that was awesome! She said that if you are a follower of Jesus, the phrase the Bible uses to describe you is a “Fisher of Men”. She put forth this idea: If you’re following Jesus, but you’re not ‘fishing’, then you’re not following Jesus and you may in fact be following someone or something else- Brilliant. Because followers fish!!!
This has really been challenging me and my vision for the Church. How can I start becoming a reL fisher of men and stop jus talking about it? What about you? There’s a lot of fish out there.
