Longing For Spring
I am grateful for every good and perfect gift the Lord gives to
us. Sometimes, though, I get so tired of winter.
Winters in Western Oregon tend to be so gloomy, wet, and cold. It seems like it is constantly cloudy with light rain. I actually like it when it gets really cold. I’d rather have a 15 degree F day with snow or sun anyday over a 40 degree rainy day. The insesant rain chills you to the bone even when the temperate isn’t all that cold.
Sometimes we can go weeks without ever seeing the sun, and life without the sun can be very depressing.
I long for the springtime: to smell freshly cut grass and blooming flowers, to feel the warm sun blanketing my skin, to see the daylight extending little by little each day, to hear the songs of newly active birds, and to be able to be enveloped by the beautiful colors of tulips, freshly sprouted leaves, and cherry blossoms.
Winter is neccesary, but spring represents new life and the promises of the amazing heat and long days of summer!
Even so, come quickly spring!
