Famous

Christianity is weird. We have created superstars of the faith: People who have a gift for speaking and developing huge churches filled with…Christians.
These famous Christians get sweet book deals, get invited to all the trendy conferences, and even get calls from major news outlets from time to time to be interviewed about the latest and greatest current event. Inevitably, with this amount of influence and power, comes money as well. These guys are set.
And to be honest (which you who regularly read this blog know that’s not something I have a problem with) this is something I want for myself- badly. Sad isn’t it. Just one fish in a giant school who wants to stand out from the rest and be popular.
There’s nothing wrong with these guys, and nothing wrong with them being famous, but here’s my point: Christians who are famous amongst Christians influence…Christians.
But my big idea is,” What if these guys, or myself, were not famous in the church, but in the world?” What if they weren’t preaching to the choir and instead were influencing, not Christians, but the world?
What would one have to do to gain that kind of notariaty?
The only person I can think of who’s come close is Bono. But how can a pastor gain this kind of fame without losing his soul, or the Gospel?
Let me know when you find out.
