Church Marketing 101, Part 10

Chapter 10 of Church Marketing 101 brought all of the pieces of the book together; emphasizing that if you are not connecting with your congregation and your city, and if you do not have a solid sense of branding (who you are), then you will not be growing and there is no purpose in promoting what is not already there (growth and life change). I find myself in one of the scenarios written of in chapter 10, a church where many of the contributors and leaders are content with where the church has been for the last decade, and that as changes are made to connect and brand, those people will leave which will first cause the church to shrink, but will prepare it for long term growth. I will be sure to consider this “advantage” (of shrinkage before growth) as I make necessary adjustments, in order to not become depressed during the process or lose sense of who God has called me to be to the church.

One Responseto “Church Marketing 101, Part 10”

  1. Slow and steady wins the race. Information from just reading a book is not what the church, particularly the long-standing members, want to hear. Being led by the spirit and God is what it is about. The elders of my church heard from God and also had a number of prophetic words over 18 months before they announced that they were changing the name and re branding. Think about the journey that you can take people on to the place where you feel led by God, and don;t expect this to be an overnight thing.
