Sun Stand Still Part 4

The third building (in preference, out of 6) that I am asking God to make the Sun Stand Still for so that we can use it as a church facility for God’s glory in this city is: 3. The Old Skate Palace building right on the NE corner of the I-5, Market Street interchange.

This is huge building setting on a huge lot in an extremely visible and recognizable location. Skate Palace was a staple in Mid-Willamette Valley entertainment for decades, but sadly has been sitting empty for years now.

What makes this building different from my other choices is that it appears to have been sold or leased out (the other buildings are vacant for certain)- I believe by the Power automotive group which runs Power Kia in Salem. I see that the building has been renovated on the outside, but there’s still no indication as to what will be going on there. But one thing I know is that it looks amazing now and would make a phenomenal home for Fellowship Church. And

The inside, if still left as a worn-down skating rink- would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to renovate but would easily house a very large worship auditorium, youth wing, and kid’s wing.

The only downfall of this building is that it is hard to get to. I believe that you have to enter from the backside by heading East on Sunnyview, then turning right onto Fisher Road NE.

But again, the potential with this highly recognizable landmark is huge. A huge marquees sign could be seen beautifully from Market Street and a large sign on the parameter of the building could be seen from both directions of I-5.

Here is a video that someone posted on Youtube that gives a good feel for what lies inside of this building now and just how massive it is.
