The Truth About Managing People, Part 9

One thing that doesn’t take place in the church world as often as it should is change. This has started to “change” in the past few decades though. In order to reach a quickly changing world, the church has to change its methods in reaching people just as quickly or risk losing relevance. People that have been in the church for a long time, however, tend to be very resistant to change because there is so much emotional attachment to ministries and programs that have had positive spiritual impact in their lives.

Truth 49 in Part 9 of The Truth About Managing People suggests using participation to reduce resistance to change. As much as I hate this idea; I know that it would be affective. So the next time when I determine a change must be made in our methods in order to reach more people, I should try to anticipate those who might resist the change the most, and offer to include them in the process of planning the change.
