Catalyst West Coast. Notes with Christine Caine
Christine Caine of the A29 Campaign to end human trafficking, and of Hillsong Church in Australia, brought the house down at Catalyst West Coast. I have heard Caine speak several times on several different church’s podcasts from around the country, and each time I have, her messages have been extraordinarily similar. But that didn’t change the impact of hearing her message again. In fact, seeing her give the message live and within the context of the Catalyst West Coast theme, Take to Courage, only amplified the impact of her message a thousand-fold.
Here are some of the highlights of her speech on taking to courage as a leader, as a Christian:
1. Living a Safe Predictable Life is a Fallacy!
2.You cannot avoid risk, or life.
3. Because, Living is Risky!
4. In fact, Love is Risky!
5. Marriage is Risky!
6. Life is terminal, and you cant avoid risk no matter how hard you try.
7. (We need to take risks in order to reach the lost and the hurting for Christ, and when we do…) We don’t need to fear because we are not a product of time, but a product of eternity.
8. We will be called to give an account for how we lived. (whether or not we were willing to take risks to reach others)
9. Our goal in life is not to go to our death safely. (Wow!)
10. By living “safely”, we avoid the context in which miracles can happen.
11. If your circumstances are all you see, then you will miss all that there is to see ( those hurting around you who need to reached by those willing to risk their “safety” to reach them.
And her final thought:
“What if because of fear, we never stepped out in courage?”
