Women
A few weeks ago I wrote a couple of posts about what it means to be a real man. I knew what to write because I’m a man- a man that falls very short of the expectations I wrote about. I knew what I wanted to be and what I wanted to strive for. So it was easy for me to write those posts.
But people started asking me to write one of these posts about women. The only problem?! I’m not a woman. I don’t know what a real woman should be.
But I have seen some great examples of women in my life. I have seen some very poor examples of women in my life. And I know what God’s Word has to say about humanity, and about women. So with all humility, here I go:
Women know and celebrate the fact that they were created in the image of God.
Women know that they are beautiful, and are lovely- because they are loved. *
Women know that their success and happiness is not dependent upon a man.
Women embrace their uniquely given feminine physical and character attributes.
Women find their identity in Christ, and not in their sexuality or their ability to please others.
Women show dignity by keeping the pace of their relationships at the speed they choose and the distance God approves.
Women recognize that they are equal in worth in their marriage, but understand that they have a unique role to play within it.
Women who are sacrificially loved by their husbands submit to their husband’s leading in the relationship.
Women consider their children to be their most prized and treasured possessions.
Women put the needs and well being of their children far above their own career ambitions.
Women don’t live vicariously through their children; they live sacrificially for their children.
Women don’t live for nights out with the girls; they live for the glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom.
Women mentor and bring up younger women to love the Lord with all their hearts, to come alongside Godly men, and to raise Godly children.
Women are strong, speak up for themselves, and don’t allow anyone to take advantage of them or harm their families.
Women make their man feel competent and are interested in what he has to say, not belittling of him and controlling over him.
Women dress to show their style and confidence, not to show off everything they have and sell themselves short, to the first man who shows them any attention.
Women take the time to lift up the head of a child to remind them that they have worth, our loved, and are special.
Etc…
