Random Thoughts I’m Kicking Around
Until God is 1st in your _______ (finances, marriage, career, education, etc…); your _________ will never be blessed.
God wants your first and your best, and until He has it, you will be living outside of His will for your life. You will be dwelling outside of His first and His best for you… outside of His blessings, provisions, and protection.
So often I see people crying out to God for a__________ ( job, spouse, child, finances, place to live, etc…). And while they’re crying out to God for these things, they’re incredibly faithful to Him- regularly attending church, praying, serving, in His Word, etc…
But often times these same people, if they receive what they have been crying out for, will drop off of the face of the earth and neglect all of the faithful activities they once were involved in- Proving that God was not the object of their affection, or the goal they were aiming towards; the money was, the sex was, the house was, the companionship was, etc….
Some may think that God was, in their minds, simply some sort of cosmic genie to them. But He wasn’t. He was worse. To those like this; God is essentially some kind of cosmic drug dealer or whore- someone that if you pay right (with church attendance, offerings, prayer, Bible reading, etc…), will give you, or do for you, what makes you feel good.
People who are more concerned with feeling good and with their own personal interests than with God find out rather quickly that it’s impossible to fit God into your life.
Again, God wants your first and your best, so He cannot be fit into your life. Your life must fit into [around] God.
If God is first, if God is the object of your affection, and if you offer Him your best; then everything else will fit around Him:
- Your relationships
- Your sexuality
- Your marriage
- Your children
- Your career
- Your money
- Your hobbies
- Your interests
- Etc…
When our priorities are in order like this (with Him at the top), He will then provide for you the desires of your heart. And those desires will be pure and righteous in the eyes of a Holy God. You will be passionate about the things He is passionate about. You will live, and move, and breath, and find your sense of being in Him; not in yourself.
It is God’s desire to bless His children and provide them with “good.” And He will find pleasure in lavishing those who live for Him in with that which is good- mainly peace, contentment, joy, and assured hope.
May I see everything in life through the lenses of “God First.”
May He be what I strive for; what I desire.
May He be the foundation of everything that comes after Him in importance.
